The Vineyard- June 10, 2012

The Vineyard
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5

I Peter 5:1-14
- How does this text say that elders are to lead?  When do you think servant leadership and leading by example are learned?
- Why do you think Peter instructs the younger among them to be humble, and listen to their elders?
- Why would Satan prowl around like a lion, actively looking to interfere with our faith?  How does this fulfill his purposes?
- When we suffer for being a Christians, do we suffer alone?  Who else suffers with us?  How does this provide any comfort?

Psalm 39
David finds himself in this situation because he was unable to do what?
- What words are used in this psalm for God’s punishment of the wicked?
- By saying that it is God who will “discipline a man with rebukes for sin”, David is merely commenting of the nature of God.  How is this comforting?
- The source of David’s grief, and yet also his deliverance, is whom?
- Ultimately, we all have to face God.  When that day comes, will we see it as a blessing (Numbers 6), or a curse?
