The Vineyard

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5

Genesis1:1-2:3:

- How does verse 2 describe the earth prior to God’s creating activity?  What does this tell you about the nature of God?

- How does God create?  What acts take place in all of God’s creating prior to his creation of humanity?  How is the creation of humanity described differently?

- Man, meaning humanity, is made in whose image, and after whose likeness?

- How is God’s response different after the creation of humanity, as opposed to after the creation of other things?

- How is “being fruitful and multiplying” different from God’s act of creation?  How is creation itself, and being created, a gift of God’s grace?

Psalm 136:

- How does this psalm begin?  What story is it telling?  What specific things does it mention?

- After creation, the psalm begins telling the story of what?  How are the story of creation, and the story of the exodus related?

- What is the common refrain in this psalm, spoken after almost every verse?

- How would you describe the steadfast love of the Lord?

- If you were writing a psalm using events from your life, to testify to the steadfast love of the Lord, what would they be?
