The Vineyard- March 3, 2013

The Vineyard
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5

Luke 5:27-39
- Levi has a bad reputation as a tax-collector, and yet he leaves everything behind to follow Jesus.  Have you ever been surprised by the reaction of someone you had written off as “bad”?  What does that teach you about judging others?
- Levi throws a feast for Jesus, and Jesus’ disciples are criticized for feasting rather than fasting.  Is your relationship with Jesus more like a feast, or a fast?  Is it marked by joy and celebration, or sorrow and sacrifice?
- Levi and the group he hangs out with are labeled as “sinners” by the Pharisees and scribes.  What they don’t know is that they have accepted Jesus’ call to discipleship.  Have you ever judged someone based on past reputation, without realizing that they have changed?
