The Vineyard- September 8, 2013

The Vineyard
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5

Genesis 13:1-18
Pray for God to speak to you through the reading of His word.
Read the passage.
-          Beginning with worship
o   Abraham gets his life back on track when he returns to the altar, and renews his worship of Yahweh.
o   Do you place importance on beginning your week with worship?
o   How do you begin each day with God?
-          Faith in poverty and prosperity
o   Society would have us believe that prosperity solves all of our problems.  However, with “more stuff” can come more problems, or at least different ones.
o   How do we ensure our focus stays on God, whether we are struggling to have enough, or struggling because we have too much?
-          People over possessions
o   Abraham demonstrates that people are more important than possessions, when he gives the best part of the Promised Land to Lot.
o   Would you be willing to part with possessions if it brought peace to your relationships with others?
Pray that worship will set the tone for our lives.
Pray that we will have faith in the good times and the bad.

Pray that we will value other people more than our possessions.
