The Vineyard- April 13, 2014

The Vineyard
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5

Isaiah 52:13-53:12
Pray for God to speak to you through the reading of His word.
Read the passage.
-          Surprise!
o   The passage speaks to the astonishment of those who saw the Servant.  Many had trouble believing that God save anyone through such a humble figure.  What surprises you about Jesus?
-          The Story of Two Lambs
o   The Servant, Jesus, and we are both compared to sheep.  In our case, it is because we wonder away like sheep, with no idea of how to lead ourselves.  However, in Jesus’ case it is because he serves as our sacrificial lamb.  Jesus offered himself up as your sacrificial lamb, are you willing to make him your shepherd as well?
-          Humiliation Leads to Exaltation
o   God says that the Servant is exalted because he “poured out his soul to death.”  Are seeking exaltation through self-centeredness, or are you following the path of Jesus by pouring yourself out for others?
Pray that God will continue to reveal to you a deeper knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Pray that we will allow Jesus to be not only our lamb, but also our shepherd.

Thank God for a Servant, Jesus Christ, who was willing to pour his soul out to the point of death for us.
