The Vineyard- June 21, 2015

The Vineyard
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5

Luke 18:15-17
-          Pride vs. Humility
o       Immediately prior to this section, Jesus speaks of humbling ourselves in order to be exalted, and cautions against exalting ourselves, lest we be humbled.  How are you doing with your pride?
-          How We View Children
o       In Jesus’ day, especially in the Roman world,   infants were judged by what they could contribute, which at such an early age was nothing.  Jesus however, didn’t care that they couldn’t do anything for Him, but delighted in their humble nature.
o       Do we value others based on what they can do for us, or do we value them based on their humility?
-          Fostering Humility
o       We are children in God’s eyes.  He loves us not based on what we can do for Him, but because of our inherent value as beings made in His image.  Do you approach God with childlike humility?  How might you foster humility before God in your own life?
Pray that we will judge others not based on what they can do for us, but by their humility.

Pray that we ourselves will learn to approach God with humility.
