Welcome!

Welcome to the blog of the Glenmora Church of Christ, in Glenmora, Louisiana. Whether you are a part of our church family or a friend from miles away, we hope that you will follow this blog as a means of celebrating with us all of the ways God is at work in our community. Our goal is to share with you reflections on what we have learned from God's word in recent weeks, information on upcoming events, updates on those in need of our prayers, as well as reports of praise for those whose prayers have been answered! Additionally, we hope to share lots of pictures so that you will be able to actually SEE the many ways that God continues to bless us through worship, study, and wonderful friendships. And of course, if you live in or are visiting Glenmora, we would love to SEE you!
May God bless you as you seek to follow Christ!

Revival!!- "Longing for Joy"

Glenmora Church of Christ
2013 Revival
“Longing for Joy”
March 10th-15th
With
Dr. Carson Reed
Assistant Professor of Practical Theology
Abilene Christian University
Every one of us seeks for meaning, for happiness. And we search for it in countless ways! But what would it be like to pursue a path that has always been present to us but we seldom take? What would happen if we simply took God at His Word?
We are not suggesting that God is the magic pill that makes all of our troubles go away. But we are inviting you to join us on a journey to explore what we might discover if we seek after God, rather than seeking after happiness. In this series of conversations you will learn about the graciousness of God’s path and experience the possibility of new beginnings for your own life. And most of all, you will discover the surprising quality of joy!

The Vineyard
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5

Luke 5:17-26
- Who brings the paralyzed man to Jesus?  What does Jesus noticed about these men?
- Why do the scribes and some of the Pharisees object to the man’s being healed?  Why do they find Jesus words objectionable?
- How do you think Jesus’ knew what they were thinking?
- Why does Jesus tell the man his sins are forgiven?  What is the connection between forgiving his sins, and healing his body?
- Have you ever felt paralyzed by something in your life?  How did God release you from that burden?  How did you show your gratitude?

Hebrews 12:4-17
- How does considering the sufferings of Christ help with our own endurance?
- Is discipline a good thing, or a bad?
- God disciplines us so that we may become His children.  How do you think this takes place?
- What lessons can we learn from being disciplined?
- Why do you think the author of Hebrews uses Esau as an example?  Did Esau ever have a chance to regain his birthright?  Are we guaranteed a chance to repentance?

The Vineyard
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5

Luke 5:12-16
- How does the leper approach Jesus?  Do we ever show this kind of humility when approaching God?
- Jesus deliberately touches a leper that everyone else went out of their way to avoid.  Has God ever touched you when you felt alone?  Have you ever been able to extend a touch of kindness to someone forgotten or ostracized?  If so, how did that make you feel?
- What does Jesus tell the leper to do after he is cleansed?

Hebrews 11:32-40
- Does the author of Hebrews list anyone in this passage who you are not familiar with?  Which person’s story jumps out at you?
- The author implies that the list could go on and on.  Who from the Bible would you include on this list, who isn’t already on it?  Who from your life would you place on this list?
- What does it say these people of faith accomplished because of their faith?
- What does it say of these people in v. 38?
