Welcome!

Welcome to the blog of the Glenmora Church of Christ, in Glenmora, Louisiana. Whether you are a part of our church family or a friend from miles away, we hope that you will follow this blog as a means of celebrating with us all of the ways God is at work in our community. Our goal is to share with you reflections on what we have learned from God's word in recent weeks, information on upcoming events, updates on those in need of our prayers, as well as reports of praise for those whose prayers have been answered! Additionally, we hope to share lots of pictures so that you will be able to actually SEE the many ways that God continues to bless us through worship, study, and wonderful friendships. And of course, if you live in or are visiting Glenmora, we would love to SEE you!
May God bless you as you seek to follow Christ!

The Vineyard- February 23, 2014

The Vineyard
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5

Philippians 2:12-30
Pray for God to speak to you through the reading of His word.
Read the passage.
-          “Shine like lights”
o   Paul instructs the Philippians to “shine like lights” in the dark world around them.  Where do you see darkness in the world?  What could you do to shine the light of Christ into that darkness?
-          Emptying Ourselves
o   Christ emptied himself, not of the form of God, but of the privileges, glory, and honor that comes with being God, all so he could redeem us on the cross.  Paul also expresses his willingness to be emptied out as a drink offering.  For Paul this meant surrendering his very life for the cause of the gospel.  What would it mean for you?
-          Caring for Others
o   Paul says that no one shares his concern for the Philippians like Timothy.  Do you have a reputation for caring about others and their needs?
o   Epaphroditus risked his very life so that he could get to Paul with much-needed aid.  Would you risk your life, just to help someone else?

Pray that we will have the same mind in ourselves, that Christ Jesus had when he emptied himself for our benefit.
