Welcome to the blog of the Glenmora Church of Christ, in Glenmora, Louisiana. Whether you are a part of our church family or a friend from miles away, we hope that you will follow this blog as a means of celebrating with us all of the ways God is at work in our community. Our goal is to share with you reflections on what we have learned from God's word in recent weeks, information on upcoming events, updates on those in need of our prayers, as well as reports of praise for those whose prayers have been answered! Additionally, we hope to share lots of pictures so that you will be able to actually SEE the many ways that God continues to bless us through worship, study, and wonderful friendships. And of course, if you live in or are visiting Glenmora, we would love to SEE you!
May God bless you as you seek to follow Christ!

The Vineyard- October 11, 2015

The Vineyard- October 11th, 2015
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5

Genesis 44:1-34
Pray for God to speak to you through the reading of His word.
Read the passage.
-          Know Thyself
o   Why is it important to know our limitations and shortcomings?  How does this knowledge help us?
o   What are some things that you know you struggle with?  Does recognizing these weaknesses in yourself better position you to overcome them?
-          Know God
o   Do you see God has someone seeking to punish, or redeem?
o   Judah thinks that they are being punished for past sins, but in reality God is working to achieve their redemption.
o   When God punishes us, it is always in an effort to move us toward redemption.  What ways have God’s chastisement in your life served to make you stronger spiritually?
-          Learning for Yourself
o   One of the reasons it’s important to know thyself, is because we can only learn from ourselves if we know ourselves.  When we know our mistakes and our weaknesses, we can learn from them.
o   What are some mistakes you have made in the past?  What have you done to draw closer to God, and prevent yourself from making those mistakes again?
Pray for the ability to discern your weaknesses, and the honesty and courage to confront them.
Seek the God who desires to redeem, rather than punish us.
Prepare yourself so that when confronted with situations where you have failed in the past, you will succeed in the future.
