The Vineyard
I am the vine; you are the
branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit,
for apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5
Psalm 95:1-5
Pray for God to speak to you through
the reading of his word.
Read the passage.
-
God as our refuge
o
Why do you think the psalmist refers
to God as the “rock of our salvation”?
What does the imagery of a rock tell us about salvation? What does it tell us about God?
-
God as the ultimate authority
o
What does it mean that the most
powerful people on earth- presidents, kings, emperors- that they are still subject
to God?
o
What comfort is it to know that God
has authority over everything, and that eventually his perfect will shall be
accomplished?
-
God as creator
o
God is described as having the
depths of the earth in his hand, and as having formed the dry land with his
hands. What does that tell you about God’s
power?
o
Do you let the vastness and beauty
of creation remind you of how awesome God is?
Pray that we as individuals, that
our church, and our community will seek God as our refuge, rather than the
things of this world.
Pray that we will recognize God as
the ultimate authority in the universe.
Pray that creation will remind us of
God’s awesome power.
