Welcome!

Welcome to the blog of the Glenmora Church of Christ, in Glenmora, Louisiana. Whether you are a part of our church family or a friend from miles away, we hope that you will follow this blog as a means of celebrating with us all of the ways God is at work in our community. Our goal is to share with you reflections on what we have learned from God's word in recent weeks, information on upcoming events, updates on those in need of our prayers, as well as reports of praise for those whose prayers have been answered! Additionally, we hope to share lots of pictures so that you will be able to actually SEE the many ways that God continues to bless us through worship, study, and wonderful friendships. And of course, if you live in or are visiting Glenmora, we would love to SEE you!
May God bless you as you seek to follow Christ!

The Vineyard- July 14, 2013

The Vineyard
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5

Acts 9:32-43
Pray for God to speak to you through the reading of his word.
Read the passage.
-          Acting Like Jesus
o   Peter had the faith to believe that Jesus’ would heal Aeneas.  Of course, that meant he also had to believe that Jesus was in some way present.  Do you believe that Jesus’ is present in our world today?
o   When Peter encountered someone, he clearly tried to think about how Jesus’ would respond to that person.  Do we intentionally ask ourselves, “What would Jesus say or do?” in our encounters with others?
-          Becoming the backbone
o   People like Tabitha are the backbone of the church, as they find ways to serve and meet the needs of others.  What practical ways do you serve those around you?  If you were to die, would they miss you as they missed Tabitha?
o   The world saw Tabitha as “just a woman”, or “just a widow”, but she allowed herself to be used powerfully by God.  Do you trust God to use you, giving you what you need to serve?
Pray that we may consider Jesus’ actions when deciding how to act and speak to others?

Pray that we may find meaningful and practical ways to meet the needs of others.
