So admittedly, I dropped the ball on getting the photos up from VBS Day 4, but I did want everyone to see what the kids did that day.
There were 51 kids at VBS on the final day, which gave us an average of close to 50 for each day. As you know, we don't have 50 kids in our church, so you can tell that we had a lot of visitors!
The theme for Day 4 was "Forgiven By Jesus".
The memory verse was Psalm 86:5: "For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you." There were actually a few stories that the kids heard today, but the central lesson was about how Jesus forgave Peter, even after Peter's denial of Him. Below is a picture of the room that the MAP kids trasformed into a courtyard at night to set the scene for Peter's betrayal.
I'll leave you with a few photos of the kids learning, snacking, making crafts, and playing games. I will try to upload all the photos from VBS to the photostream at the bottom of the blog by the end of the week. VBS turned out great this year, due to the outstanding work of Sonny Child's MAP team, as well as hours of preparation by some of our own members. There is no doubt that many kids learned a great deal about who Christ is, and how much he loves them!!
Welcome!

VBS- Day 3
We had another solid turnout for VBS today, with 48 kids present. The MAP team is continuing to do an awesome job, as they transformed the lesson room literally overnight from an "ocean" to land for the story of Peter's Confession. The theme for today was "Saved by Jesus", as the kids continued to focus on Jesus as our rock.
The memory verse for today was Romans 10:9, " because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." As I mentioned earlier, the lesson centered on Peter's Confession that Jesus is the Christ.
The snack for today was quite interesting. Several ingredients that when put together, create a moose!
Little Miss Kallie, a future VBS kid, taking a little nap as the older kids snack.
Stay tuned for pictures from tomorrow's grande finale for VBS, and also be on the look out for lots more VBS photos in the flickr stream at the bottom of the blog, and the photo album that the stream links to. We are looking forward to a great last day!

VBS- Day 2
We had a great second day of VBS. We had 53 kids, which means there were several new faces. Today's lesson centered around Matthew 14:22-33, where Jesus walks on the water, and Peter attempts to walk on the water as well. The overall theme was that Jesus protects us, even when our faith is not as it should be.
The memory verse was Isaiah 41:13; "For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, 'Fear not, I am the one who helps you.'"
Every day the snack in some way ties into the lesson, but I thought today's was especially cool. Blue Jello in a cup to mimic the ocean, with Cool Whip as the waves, a peach as the boat, and a piece of Fruit Rollup as the sail. How neat is that?!?!
I leave you with a final photo of the extremely creative ladies in charge of the crafts that the kids do each day. You guys are awesome!
Of course, all of the photos from today, and the rest of the week will be added to the photostream at the bottom of the blog, which you can then follow to the church's flickr page to view all of our photos from VBS and many other activies. If you have a child, or know of a child that would be interested in coming to VBS, we hope to see you see this week!

VBS- Day1
We had a great first day of VBS at the Glenmora Church of Christ with over 40 kids present, 22 of whom were Pre-K!
The kids learned how Jesus called His first disciples, including Peter, by helping them catch a miraculous amount of fish (Luke 5:1-11). They also learned I John 3:1 as a memory verse, "see what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God." Below are a few photos that sum up all the days activities. More photos will appear in the flickr stream at the bottom of the blog, which links to our album that will contain tons of phots from throughout the week. I was hoping to load the daily video recap, but its proving to be a task beyond my technical expertise. Hopefully I will be able to load each day's video onto YouTube and post the links soon. If you have a child and live in the Glenmora area, we hope to see you tomorrow at 9 am!

An Exciting Week Ahead!
We have much to be thankful for here this week at the Glenmora Church of Christ.
First of all, we had 118 at worship this morning to kick off our Revival and VBS, one of whom was Marie Cook, who is feeling somewhat better after her stay in the hospital earlier this week.
Sonny Childs brought two great messages from Galatians 6 to start things off, and in between them we enjoyed some of the best cookin' around.
We hope you will join us this week for VBS from 9 am- Noon Monday throug Thursday, and for evening worship at 7 pm Monday-Wednesday. There truly is something for all ages!
In the photostream you will see some photos of all the preparation done by Sonny's MAP team for VBS, and I have also included a few in this post. I will try to update the blog with new pictures each day so you can follow along with the kids in their journey.

An Exciting Few Weeks Ahead!
Lots will be happening here at the Glenmora Church of Christ over the next few weeks!
Also, continue to remember those in need of our prayers:
- Stacy Bynog and her son Seth, who are members of the McArthur Drive congregation. Stacy is experiencing sotmach pain, with the possibility of a gall bladder disorder, while Seth is scheduled to have a tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and ear tubes placement next week.
- Bo Johnson will be leaving for a mission trip to Honduras in the next few days. Pray for safe travels, and especially for a successful trip.
- Mamie Grantham was sick with bronchitis on Sunday. Pray for her swift recovery.
- Abby Arnaud will be having heart surgery soon.
- Also be praying for Leah Dauzat and Bob Morrow as they continue to struggle with health problems.
- Marie Cook had a liter of fluid drained from around her lungs last week, but she only felt better for a few days before her problems began to recur. Pray that her doctors will be able to find a permanent solution to her difficulties.
We also want to give thanks that brother George Johnson is feeling better. There is still room for improvement, but we are certainly glad that he is heading in the right direction!
7/10-7/15- Junior High Week @ CYE
- There were 11 baptisms at the week for elementary school-aged kids a few weeks ago. Let's be praying for God to work in the hearts of our Junior High Youth in a similar way!
7/18-7/22- VBS with Sonny Childs Summer MAP Program
- VBS is just two and a half weeks away! There are fliers in the foyer with information for church members, and we will soon be placing yard signs, and creating fliers to pass out to those in the community. Also, that Sunday we will be having a potluck to get things started off right. The church is providing the meat so bring a side-dish, or if you are a visitor, just bring your appetite!
7/24-7/29- Senior High Week @ CYE
- On the heels of VBS our Senior High students will be going off for a week of camp at CYE. Pray that they will grow spiritually, and be made more into the likeness of Jesus Christ! Also, continue to remember those in need of our prayers:

Thanksgiving for things past, present, and future!
As you might have guessed, this note is all about thanksgiving for things that have happened, that are happening, and that will happen very soon!
Past:
Last week at Junior Week at CYE 11 children were baptized into Christ! If that doesn't get you excited, I don't know what will. Be praying for these children as well as two of our own, Cameron and Madison Strother, as they are in the beginning stages of their walk with Christ. Their journey has just begun!
Present:
It was great to have Garrah Peters with us Sunday, just a few days after having stints put in to open up a collapsed vein. We are grateful that she is feeling better than she has in months, and pray that she will continue to recover quickly! We also want to keep praying for others among us like Marie Cook and George Johnson, who continue to battle health problems. We hope that they will be feeling better real soon!
Not-so-distant future:
In just a few weeks, we will be kicking off our VBS. Be praying for Sonny Childs and his MAP team as they prepare to come down for the week. That Sunday, July 17th, we will be having a potluck after morning worship to get things started off on the right foot, because everyone is happy when their plate is full. The church will be providing the meat so bring your favorite side, some friends, and an empty stomach!
