The Vineyard
I am the vine; you are the
branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit,
for apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5
Isn’t Christianity just a bunch of rules?
Pray that God will speak to you
through the reading of His word.
-
What happens when we make our faith
about “the rules”?
o
How does making “the rules” the
focus of our faith detract from our relationships?
o
How does making “the rules” the
center of our attention lead to feelings of self-righteousness and superiority?
-
Why do “the rules” point to?
o
Jesus said that all the law and the
prophets could summed up with what two commandments?
o
How do “the rules” remind us to love
God and to love our neighbor?
-
The only law that matters
o
How is Jesus the perfect embodiment
of all “the rules”?
o
Why is following Jesus simpler than
trying to follow a bunch of rules?
o
How does sharing one another’s
burdens make us like Christ?
Pray that our faith will be about
more than just rules.
Pray that a love for God and our
neighbor will be the defining attribute of our faith.
Pray that we will follow Jesus, and
bear one another’s burdens just as he bore our burden on the cross.
