Welcome!

Welcome to the blog of the Glenmora Church of Christ, in Glenmora, Louisiana. Whether you are a part of our church family or a friend from miles away, we hope that you will follow this blog as a means of celebrating with us all of the ways God is at work in our community. Our goal is to share with you reflections on what we have learned from God's word in recent weeks, information on upcoming events, updates on those in need of our prayers, as well as reports of praise for those whose prayers have been answered! Additionally, we hope to share lots of pictures so that you will be able to actually SEE the many ways that God continues to bless us through worship, study, and wonderful friendships. And of course, if you live in or are visiting Glenmora, we would love to SEE you!
May God bless you as you seek to follow Christ!

The Vineyard- June 16, 2013

The Vineyard
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5

Acts 8:4-25
Pray for God to speak to you through the reading of his word.
Read the passage.
-          The gospel is not dependent on geography
o   Philip experienced dislocation because of his faith; he was forced to flee his home.
o   And yet, Philip continues to spread the gospel, because it is part of who he is.  Do you see even challenging times as opportunity to spread the good news about Jesus Christ?
-          The gospel is not just spoken
o   Philip preaches, but he also ministers by serving those who are in need.
o   How can you preach the gospel in word and in deed?
-          We cannot serve two masters
o   Simon is motivated chiefly by his own desire for fame.
o   Is faith a way of getting what you have always wanted, or have you allowed faith in Jesus Christ to transform your desires?
Pray that we will find ways to proclaim the gospel in our own community, as well as other places as the opportunity presents itself.
Pray that we will not just tell others about hope, but that we will show them hope.
Pray that we will allow our faith to transform our desires, and seek to serve God, rather than seeking to have God serve us.
