The Vineyard
I am the vine; you are the
branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit,
for apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5
Acts 8:4-25
Pray for God to speak to you through
the reading of his word.
Read the passage.
-
The gospel is not dependent on
geography
o
Philip experienced dislocation
because of his faith; he was forced to flee his home.
o
And yet, Philip continues to spread
the gospel, because it is part of who he is.
Do you see even challenging times as opportunity to spread the good news
about Jesus Christ?
-
The gospel is not just spoken
o
Philip preaches, but he also
ministers by serving those who are in need.
o
How can you preach the gospel in
word and in deed?
-
We cannot serve two masters
o
Simon is motivated chiefly by his
own desire for fame.
o
Is faith a way of getting what you
have always wanted, or have you allowed faith in Jesus Christ to transform your
desires?
Pray that we will find ways to
proclaim the gospel in our own community, as well as other places as the
opportunity presents itself.
Pray that we will not just tell
others about hope, but that we will show them hope.
Pray that we will allow our faith to transform
our desires, and seek to serve God, rather than seeking to have God serve
us.
