Stanford Broussard
(August 29, 1931 - February 3, 2012)
STANFORD BROUSSARD
Funeral services for Bro. Stanford Broussard will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2012 at the Bayou Jacque Church of Christ with the Bros. David Broussard, Donny McGee, and Danny Broussard officiating. Burial will follow in the Bayou Jacque Church of Christ Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie. Bro. Stanford Broussard was born August 29, 1931 and went home to be with our Lord on February 3, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. Bro. Stan served the Lord as a minister for 60 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Nan Broussard; six children, Stephanie Ann Ball, Stanford Daniel Broussard, Donna Ruth Broussard, Betty Denise Wright, Steven David Broussard, and Nathan Earl Broussard; 16 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; one brother, Mason Broussard; and a multitude of dear friends and brethren in the Lord. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Phlavia Broussard; a brother, Stanley; and two sisters, Joyce and Phelia. What is a man’s life? Humanly speaking, it is only a vapor, but a man of God endures. It is a gift of God to be lived to honor his creator! Dad was blessed to be born to a mother who loved her Lord Jesus. Later through the grace of God and her godly example, his dad also believed in Jesus. He wasn’t their only child for long, as his brother came along 11 months later. He grew, worked and hunted in the marsh country around Gueydan, LA and at age 17 went to Louisville, KY, 1000 miles from home to attend Bible College wearing shirts made of bleached rice sacks. It was there he met his wife Nan. They were married when he was 20 and she was 18 1/2. It wasn’t long until they moved back to LA to begin their ministry at the Church of Christ in Abbeville where he preached one service in English and the second in his native French language. In 1954, they moved to Bayou Jacque with their one year old daughter, Stephanie. Shortly after they began to minister in Bayou Jacque, their second child was born. When Danny was 15 months old, and Mom was 23, she found out that she had cancer and Dad had to do double duty while Mom was being treated. After Mom recovered fully, she had four more children, Donna, Denise, David, and Nathan. Dad had many opportunities to go other places and minister to larger congregations and live elsewhere, but he loved Bayou Jacque and the people there. He was a man full of weakness and full of thankfulness for God’s marvelous grace. It was grace, the underserved favor of God that drew him to the ministry and kept him there. God gave him a full allotment of time, three score and 10, and by reason of strength, four score and now he has run his race, he has finished his course, and he has received the crown of righteousness that the Lord himself will give to him and all who have loved his appearing… Pallbearers will include; Ryan Broussard, Garland Wright, Kyle Broussard, Nathan Hatcher, Sammuel Ball, Logan Broussard, Slade Tobias, and Wyatt Broussard. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2012 at the Bayou Jacque Church of Christ.
